When a team becomes disconnected

When strong internal collaboration comes at the expense of connections across the organization.

A leadership team has developed trust, established effective ways of working and makes decisions efficiently. Internally, things seem to work well.

Yet over time, the team becomes increasingly disconnected from other departments and stakeholders. Different expectations emerge, information is not shared as effectively and decisions may lack support beyond the team. What works well within the team may unintentionally limit effectiveness across the wider organization.

How ON SILK approaches it

I explore how the team and its stakeholders experience their collaboration, using confidential conversations to identify recurring patterns and differing expectations. I develop options for strengthening the connections between the team and the wider organization. The sponsor decides which approach to pursue. Implementation may involve facilitated cross-functional conversations, team coaching or adjustments to communication and decision-making processes. The aim is not to change what already works well within the team, but to improve how the different parts of the organization work together.
