EXECUTIVE SITUATION 04 · CONTEXT

What worked before may no longer fit

When organizational heritage, cultural expectations and new technologies challenge established ways of working.

Two organizations may have similar structures, yet operate very differently. Their history, cultural environment and experience of competition shape how people lead, make decisions, collaborate and take risks.

New technologies, particularly AI, can challenge these established assumptions. What once enabled an organization to perform successfully may now slow decisions, limit experimentation or create friction between different ways of working. The challenge is not simply to introduce new technology or adopt another organization’s practices. It is to understand which established strengths remain valuable, which assumptions need reconsideration and how leadership and collaboration may need to evolve.

How ON SILK approaches it

I explore how organizational heritage, cultural expectations and emerging technologies influence the way people work and make decisions. By bringing together different perspectives, I help identify where established practices support performance and where they may be limiting it. I develop options with their implications for leadership, decision-making, processes and collaboration. The sponsor decides which direction to pursue. Implementation may involve facilitated cross-cultural conversations, leadership advisory, workshops or changes to organizational processes and ways of working. The aim is to help the organization retain what makes it strong while adapting how it leads, decides and works together in a changing environment.
